For my project what went well was being able to understand myself while talking about the coins. The children were able to understand and know the value of coins, what needed improvement was making sure I had all the materials I needed to have. I enjoyed teaching the kids about money. At first I felt very nervous but I felt okay right after
What I would advice the next interns would be to always have a positive attitude when attending internship. They should make sure they're prepare for everything that is coming their way and to make sure they have fun while being in internship
One thing that this internship has helped me know is that I wouldn't like to be a teacher, its not one of my goals so I believe it helped me take that out for a carrier but who knows, it may be something I study for in the future,
Something That im really thankful for are the kids that I was able to work with. I am also very thankful for my mentor and everyone else around me during internship. Im thankful for the office ladies because they have helped me out in many different ways. They have helped me learn how to use the photo copier and just be very kind to everyone around them. My mentor has been a really amazing person who ill always be thankful for because she has always been very nice to me and has helped me grown from this internship. I will always be grateful for this.
Internship has changed my view on my future. I didnt plan to become a teacher but I know I really did love working with the kids and maybe I will take teaching into consideration. My main goal is still physiology but maybe school counseling would be a great idea. My view beyond high school has changed by a lot because working is a hard task at first but you get use to it after a while My presentation tool that I will use will be google slides. I think I will be relying on notes in case I forget to include something but I plan to use bullet points to guide me through. If questions are ask I'll just answer as best as I can. The appreciations I learned has been the children, they're extremely amazing and also my mentor. I'm guessing I made a very weird appearance but I think to the children I made a very meaningful contribution because they see me as this example for them and they love to share stories (which is really awesome) What I did overall was learn how being a teacher works and how challenging it can get but with enough motivation you can be the very best. What I did everyday was interact with the kids and learn how you can manage to work with a class. Communication has been a major key for me. Im the type of person who really doesnt like asking for help but for this internship if I didnt know what to do then I would ask again to make sure I was doing the right thing. As for this internship it was a huge change for me because I couldnt be inside my shell, I had to actually made sure I talked to the kids without being shy. Being almost halfway done is making me sad because these kids are really lovely. For one project I read to the whole class. I picked out a book at the library and had to read to the entire class. I first started with the kids to go to the rug. From the rug I had to make sure I was being good at catching their attention. From that I was able to learn from mistakes. My mistakes were something that can be fixed. Today I really read to a smaller group and from my first attempt I learned to first set some rules that are like "wait to ask questions until the end" or even when it comes to the smallest things, because kids are full of energy and find a need to talk when they feel connected. What I learned about this was the way kids are when it comes to being quiet. My responsibilities are different because now I have to stay committed to one thing instead of switching it to something before being unsure. It's like now I have to stay with one topic and make sure I complete it and make sure it's good. Interactions are way different because I don't really interact with anyone like I would with my friends. This internship has influence time for my future, I have seen how complicated it is to be a teacher and I can decide if I really want to go after that. What I can bring into school is the happiness that I have when I'm around the students and create new memories that I will want to remember. I will also bring with me motivation to get my work done and be organized. It's been meanful for me because I love being around kids and it makes me happy but I have also learned that it takes a lot to be a teacher. The experience I will be taking with me once I go back to school will be the way I get things done. I will be knowing the standards that second graders need to know, and also I will know a little more about the teaching career, but I know I wouldnt want to be a teacher. That helps me know that teaching is out the way. What I did today: My mentor wasn't here today but that didn't mean it was a day off for me. There was a sub for the day and I was here observing, It was very different seeing how they teach. They started with reading, and then later connected with each other in a circle talking about the rain. After that they went over the calendar. When they were done they started working on their math packets and I was able to help some students with their math and observe how they work on their own. |
